Clearpass Device Registration Guide
Clearpass is the device management system SCAD uses to allow students to connect personal, non-computer devices to the SCAD Wireless network.
📶 What is SCAD Wireless?
SCAD Wireless is a dedicated network designed for connecting smart devices in residence halls, such as:
- 📺 Smart TVs
- 🎮 Game consoles
- 📦 Streaming devices (e.g., Apple TV, Fire Stick, Fire Cube)
⚠️ These devices must be registered in the Clearpass Portal before connecting to SCAD Wireless.
📝 How to Register a Device in Clearpass
- Go to the Clearpass Portal
- Log in using your SCAD username and password
- Enter the following details:
-
Device Name (e.g., “John’s Xbox”)
-
Device Type (select from the dropdown)
-
Wireless MAC Address (not the Ethernet MAC address)
-
Residence Hall (select your building)
- Click Register Device to complete the process
- Connect to SCAD Wireless on your device
NOTE: Once successfully registered, your device will not prompt for a SCAD username or password when connecting.
✅ Tips for Success
- Make sure you’re entering the wireless MAC address, not the Ethernet one.
- If you're unsure how to find your device’s MAC address, check the manufacturer’s support site or device settings.
- After registering, power off the device for at least 10 minutes, then power it back on and connect to SCAD Wireless.
