Setup and Manage Duo Mobile
Duo is SCAD’s official Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) method, providing a second layer of security to protect your account. Even if your password is compromised, Duo requires interaction from a registered device before login is approved—helping keep your information safe.
After downloading and installing the Duo Mobile app on your device, you can receive push notifications to approve login attempts.

Initial Setup of Duo Mobile
During your first login to MySCAD, you’ll be prompted to set up Duo Mobile.
Recommended Setup Method
You may be given the option to authenticate using Face ID / Touch ID on your computer or through the Duo Mobile app. We HIGHLY recommend using the Duo Mobile app for greater flexibility and control across devices instead of Face ID / Touch ID.
Step-by-Step Setup Instructions
- Log into my.scad.edu
- Select Duo Mobile on the "First, add a device" page

Enter your complete phone number when prompted.
- Click Continue
- Confirm your phone number.
- Install the Duo Mobile app on your phone.
- Once installed, return to the setup screen on your computer and click “Next” to display a QR code.
- Open the Duo Mobile app on your phone.
- In the Duo Mobile app, press "Add +"
- Tap “Use a QR code” to scan and add your SCAD account.
- Leave the Account Name as SCAD, then tap Save.
Your account is now linked to Duo Mobile! You can log out of MySCAD on your computer and back in to test that Duo is working correctly.

Steps to Enroll an Additional Device in Duo

Go to my.scad.edu
- Complete Duo authentication if prompted
- Click on Personal Info
- Under the MySCAD account channel, click on Add devices to two-factor authentication
- Click on Add Device.
- Select your device type (Phone or Tablet)
- Enter all of the required information
- Click Add to proceed
- In order to receive the QR Code, you MUST select "I have Duo Mobile installed"
- In the Duo Mobile app, press "Add +"
- Tap “Use a QR code” to scan and add your SCAD account.

Troubleshooting: Bypass Code & Face ID / Touch ID Conflicts
If you're prompted to enter a bypass code, it may mean Duo is already configured with Face ID / Touch ID on another computer.
Option 1: Unable to log into MySCAD
- Install Duo Mobile on your device
- Contact Tech Support via techsupport.scad.edu to request an activation link
Option 2: Use an Existing Device with Face ID / Touch ID
If you have access to the computer where Duo is already activated:
- Log in to my.scad.edu on the device that Face ID / Touch ID is setup on
- Click on the Personal Info tab
- Select Add devices to two-factor authentication on the MySCAD account channel
- Scroll to the bottom and click Add Device
- Enter your device information
- On the next screen, confirm that you have the Duo Mobile app installed
- Open the Duo Mobile app
- Select "Add +"
- Select scan the QR code to link your account
